Open afternoon for Education Week

The theme for this year’s Education Week was “Technology: Create your future” so the focus was on creating solutions using technology (instead of being consumers). We held an open afternoon  and completed STEAM activities. STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths.

Our classroom theme was Where the Wild Things Are.

After reading the story,  students made a wild thing and a wild thing trap using a variety of materials. We had lots of parents assisting with the construction of these items.

Here are some of our creations

There was a Home Learning Matrix sent home for the whole school, where you could select the task of your choice to complete and return to school. 1/2SM were very creative and you can see all of their hard work in the following slideshow.

We had lots of fun. Thanks to all of the parents who were able to visit.

Historical Dress Up Day 2016

p1200468  Our historical dress up day was a great celebration to complete our Changes Over Time (Technology) Inquiry. We had lots of fun dressing up in olden day clothes. There were lots of activities that students rotated through during the day, including old fashioned games and dancing.

Here are some photographs of  the outside activities students participated in.

Here are the 1/2 teachers.

Thanks to all of the parents and relatives for dressing their children in clothes from the past. We really appreciate you taking the time to organise costumes.

What did you enjoy the most?
