Book Week 2016

During Book Week we had a visit from Craig Smith, the author of The Wonky Donkey and other stories. Craig was very entertaining and shared his books through music. You can watch some videos of Craig on his website including an animation of The Wonky Donkey.

Open afternoon for Education Week

The theme for this year’s Education Week was “Technology: Create your future” so the focus was on creating solutions using technology (instead of being consumers). We held an open afternoon  and completed STEAM activities. STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths.

Our classroom theme was Where the Wild Things Are.

After reading the story,  students made a wild thing and a wild thing trap using a variety of materials. We had lots of parents assisting with the construction of these items.

Here are some of our creations

There was a Home Learning Matrix sent home for the whole school, where you could select the task of your choice to complete and return to school. 1/2SM were very creative and you can see all of their hard work in the following slideshow.

We had lots of fun. Thanks to all of the parents who were able to visit.
